Bye, Bye, American Lie

U.S. Loses 2-1, Eliminated From WBC

It first became obvious with our “Operation Shock and Awe”, that arrogant description of our formidable war-making prowess in Iraq, but it really began as far back as Viet Nam and even Korea. We are not the infallible powerhouse we are led to believe we are. We dropped the ball on 911, again with our lack of preparation for Hurricane Katrina, and now we have the American classic game of baseball being played with unprecedented passion and agility by teams representing, heaven help us, the rest of the world. Could it be? Are Americans really mortal?

We are rejoining the pack and becoming part of the rest of the world. It could be a good thing. Maybe the resentment and mistrust of our fellow earthlings will focus on something else. Maybe we will be appreciated for our contributions to humanity once we stop strutting around as if we owned the joint. We are a dense people in a perpetual state of denial. It takes us a while before reality sinks in. Maybe it’s because our duplicitous leaders are always telling us how superior we are from the cradle on. We often wonder how the German people fell for the rhetoric of the Nazi party back in the day. Oh yes, their sense of privilege was reinforced by their leaders and they took the bait. The Jews represented themselves as ‘The Chosen People’ and look how much acrimony has been showered upon them throughout history.

Humility is an attractive trait and was championed by none other than the Christ himself, but he broke his own credo when he announced himself as the ‘messiah’. The rest is history. Nobody likes a braggart.
